Pipe and Drum corps have served in militaries since the seventeenth century. The Royal Scots are recorded as one of the earliest Pipe Bands. Fire and police departments are amongst the very first civilian organizations to form pipe bands. Throughout history bagpipes have inspired men to fight for their independence and command them to tears while honoring the ranks of their fallen.
